Reprogram Primm Slim
As luck would have it, Primm Slim, a two-hundred-year-old protectron that has been adapted to work as a greeter at the Vikki and Vance Casino, can also serve as the new sheriff of Primm. But before that happens, you have to reach a certain point in the “My Kind of Town” task and use three Fission Batteries and four conductors on him.
Talk to Johnson Nash at the Vikki and Vance Casino, try to save Deputy Beagle at the Bison Steve Hotel. And either talk to Beagle after you save him or go back to Nash if Beagle died. From there, you’ll be asked to find a new sheriff for Primm. And Primm Slim is, of course, one of the choices.
Convert Them To Energy Cells
If you have the Honest Hearts DLC and want to use guns that need them. You can turn any extra Fission Batteries you have into energy cells, as long as you have the science level to do so. One Fission Battery and five empty energy cells can be turned into 25 fully filled energy cells that can be used. If only you could do this in Fallout 3.
This is great news if you use laser or plasma pistols, plasma defenders, pulse guns, sonic emitters, compliance regulators, or any other tool you can slam an energy cell into. Also, since Fission Batteries are pretty heavy (they weigh about 6 kilograms), turning them into energy cells saves a lot of room that can be used to carry more loot.
Sell Them
If you have too many or need some quick cash and are ready to sell some. Fission Batteries have a good base value of 75 caps. Keep in mind, though, that merchants and traders will offer you better prices if your barter skill is good.
In other words, if your trading skill isn’t very high, you shouldn’t try to sell Fission Batteries. You should try to sell high-value things. If your barter skill is at least 40, but 60 or more is best.
Permanent perks like “Tag!” or “Basket Random” can give your trade skill a nice boost if you want to put your skill points into something else.
Make Repairs At Camp McCarran
Go to Camp MCCarran and talk to Corporal William Farber if you want to know. Where you can always buy food at a price. This is the start of the hidden New California Republic quest “Not Worth a Hill of Corn and Beans,” in which you have to fix the camp’s food grinder.
Unless you have a Repair skill of 80, you’ll need to gather a lot of things, like pilot lights, pressure cookers, wires, fire hose nozzles, Fission Batteries, sensor modules, and a few other things. But hey, once it’s fixed, Farber will give you savings on purified water, Pork n’ Beans, and other things.
Craft Sierra Madre Chips
You can get a perk called Coin Operator if you have the Dead Money DLC. That is, if you can pass repeated Perception and Intelligence checks with Christine Royce, an agent of the Circle of Steel.
If you aren’t polite when you talk to Christine, she won’t be willing to let you use the perk.
Once you have them, you can use one Fission Battery and two pieces of scrap metal to make Sierra Madre Chips. Which you can spend at Sierra Madre vending boxes or the Sierra Madre Casino. Depending on the codes you’ve found, you can use the chips to get food, ammo, medicine, and other things.
Brew Some Moonshine
Why not do something that was done before the war and make some moonshine? One Fission Battery, one Maize, two Mutfruit, and one Yeast are needed for the recipe. It can be cooked over a campfire or on an electric hot plate. Don’t forget that you’ll need at least level 75 in the Survival skill to make booze.
Talk to Cass, the owner of Cassidy Caravans, to get the recipe. Once you and she become friends and she comes with you, she will teach you how to make the dish.
The moonshine increases your Charisma and Strength, but it takes away four minutes of your Intelligence.
